Welcome to the Cinema Cafe Podcast, the film podcast, by the fans for the fans. Join us as we review new movie releases, talk some film news and share our general love for all things cinema. Also, newly added, book reviews!! We review a lot of movies that are adapted from books, and we've generally read those books beforehand, so we also like to have in-depth discussions on the differences between the original book source and movie adaptation. What I Think Of: The Proposal (2009)
Welcome to a world where book editors are highly paid and have no idea what goes on in the outside world. Welcome to a world where executive assistants are from billionaire Alaskan families and where Betty White is part Native American. Welcome to a world where Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds get semi-naked. Yes, at least for that, this world is a welcome sight. Welcome to a world of generic. I mean the movie isn't terrible- it has a charming cast, some funny city girl goes to the country type moments, and it does have Betty White talking about sex (which when I think about is a huge turnoff from ever wanting to have sex again), but this is a really average by the numbers type of romantic comedy. If you've seen any romantic comedies you've seen this movie. However, if you're like me and watch every romantic comedy that comes out, I can refer you to a dozen far worse films that have been released this year (hello Confessions of a Shopaholic). Seriously, Sandra Bullock naked. Bam! You're welcome.
